Our Mission
SHSH Theatre! is a performing arts collective pushing the boundaries of contemporary theatre.
It is straps off and unleashed.
Driven by two experienced educators, directors and actors SHSH Theatre! is performance training like never before. Led by the two founding members and directors Stuart Hibbard and Stephen Hall.
Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to theatre training and production.
The power of performance is rooted in communication as a collective we aim to boost communication skills in industry as well as the arts.
That is our passion.
About Us
Where to begin? Stuart and Stephen have been friends, colleagues and creatives for over 20 years together.
In 2023 the two of them sat down and talked for hours about the shows they wanted to do. Initially, it is was a project for them to do as actors. However, as Stuart says "We soon realised that our experience as creatives led us down a different path. We have both worked extensively as actors, directors and writers. We had taken our theatrical knowledge and used it in different environments but still had a passion for developing new work. With several individual projects on the go it just seemed to be a logical decision to join forces and collaborate. .
Between us, we explored a philosophy of what we want our performers to be able to do and how communication skills can be enhanced by a some training in language and physical behaviours.
As theatre practitioners how do we as creatives work alongside our actors to develop and enable them to become better storytellers yet in industry how do we help in training communicators dealing with the changes in technology. To put it simply we needed a new approach to train and guide the art of performance and communication..
With over 50 years of combined experience and knowledge of stage and film craft alongside work in industry and education, Stuart and Stephen have joined forces to create SHSH Theatre! A training hub for actors and communicators..
The mission statement is simple.

Now is the time to be curious not cautious. In an ever increasing world of AI the work of a performer and communicator is to BE HONEST.
SHSH Theatre! has been born. And it's time to make some noise.

Education Programs
At SHSH, actor training doesn't start and finish in a classroom or a rehearsal space. It is the ongoing exploration of the character, the scene - the what, where and why? It is not about repeating lines but training actors to learn to discover. Curiosity is key. Former students have attended LIPA, RCSSD, RADA, LAMDA and many other of the leading drama schools in the UK.
A performer with SHSH you will work with the directors to observe and engage with the past and the modern world. To deliver work in a contemporary way. This is a new approach to theatre performance. This is partner based learning. WE call it Exploration.
At SHSH we work with schools, colleges and education establishments to push the boundaries of performance.
These skills are not limited to acting but to a broader range of communication roles. Roles where communication is key, face to face or remotely.

Stephen has a long history of working in the theatre, graduating from RADA he then spent many years teaching and running acting programmes at the University of Winchester as well as working with other projects.
Along with Stuart he is a driving force behind the SHSH Theatre collective. A new approach to actor training.
